Position Overview

The Communications, Marketing & Event Coordinator is a creative, organized, and mission-driven team member who brings the Leadership Toledo story to life – within the staff, program participants, alumni, program recruits and the community at large. This role manages the organization’s strategic communications and marketing efforts from social media and newsletters to event promotion. This person also supports the coordination of key programs and community events.

Key Responsibilities

Communications & Marketing (Primary)

  • Develop and manage Leadership Toledo’s social media strategy and content calendar.

  • Create engaging, on-brand content for newsletters, website updates, and email campaigns.

  • Maintain the organization’s website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and compelling.

  • Collaborate with external marketing partners or agencies as needed to execute creative campaigns.

  • Uphold brand consistency and voice across all platforms and materials.

  • Collaborate with staff to capture stories, testimonials, and photos that highlight the impact of Leadership Toledo programs.

Event Coordination

  • Supports Leadership Toledo major fundraising events (Community Breakfast and Restaurant Week Toledo) annually plus recurring monthly program days,

  • Serves as on-site lead for communications for major events like Restaurant Week Toledo and Community Breakfast, in partnership with other staff.

  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to ensure seamless event delivery.

Program & Administrative Support (as needed)

  • Provide occasional administrative support for program operations

  • Assist with participant communications, printing, and preparation for program days.

  • Support vendor coordination and invoicing processes for events and marketing materials.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in communications, marketing, event planning, or related field (nonprofit experience a plus).

  • Excellent writing and editing skills - able to produce authentic, compelling content that reflects Leadership Toledo’s voice.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and tools such as Canva, Constant Contact, and Squarespace (or similar).

  • Comfortable balancing multiple responsibilities in a flexible, team-oriented setting where priorities may shift seasonally.

  • Collaborative, proactive, and eager to contribute to a small, high-trust team.

  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events or program days.

  • Passion for community engagement and alignment with Leadership Toledo’s mission.

Compensation: The budgeted salary range for this role is between $47,500-$53,500 depending on skills, experience, and equity (both market and internal).
