POSITION TITLE: Development and Alumni Relations Manager
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Development and Alumni Relations Manager leads Leadership Toledo's fundraising and stakeholder engagement efforts, serving as a key ambassador for the organization. This role builds and maintains relationships with donors, alumni, board members, and community partners while managing the donor database and development plan. The position combines strategic fund development with hands-on relationship management to advance Leadership Toledo's mission.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fund Development Strategy
Collaborate with the Executive Director to set fundraising targets and build the annual development strategy
Lead execution of the fund development plan
Fundraising & Events
Plan and coordinate signature fundraising events like the Annual Community Breakfast and Restaurant Week Toledo
Design and implement annual giving opportunities that grow donor participation
Stay current on fundraising best practices and trends
Donor Management
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a growing base of individual and corporate donors
Own and deepen relationships with key donors, sponsors, and community partners
Oversee donor database management, gift processing, reporting, and stewardship practices
Alumni Relations
Partner with Program Directors and the Communications, Marketing, and Event Coordinator to keep alumni engaged through programming, events, and volunteer opportunities
Maintain the alumni database and build an ambassador network
Collect alumni impact stories, connecting alumni engagement to donor cultivation and organizational storytelling
Community Engagement
Represent Leadership Toledo at community events to enhance the organization’s visibility
Strategically and creatively support programming across the organization
Participate in networking/affinity groups to raise awareness and visibility of Leadership Toledo
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
3–5 years of experience in fundraising, development, sales, or relationship-based work (nonprofit experience a plus)
Proven ability to build trust and cultivate long-term relationships with donors, alumni, and community partners
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling, mission-aligned appeals
Comfortable with data: donor database management, gift processing, and reporting (experience with donor CRM platforms a plus)
Highly organized, able to manage multiple relationships and projects simultaneously
Proficient in Microsoft Office and open to learning new tools and technology
Self-motivated and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for donor events and programming
Passion for community leadership, service, and philanthropy, and alignment with Leadership Toledo's mission

COMPENSATION
The budgeted salary range for this role is between $55,000-$65,000 depending on skills, experience, and equity (both market and internal).|
